The Pedersoli® 1859 Sharps Carbine Calvary Model Rifle is the last of the percussion rifles ever invented and is considered to be the rifle that paved the way for the transition to the centerfire cartridge rifles that we are familiar with today. The Sharps rifle was used extensively throughout the civil war by both the Confederacy and the Union and the calvary model was the standard issue rifle for mounted troops during the war. After the end of the Civil War, the Sharps Carbine Rifle became the rifle of choice for buffalo hunters spreading out across the great plains of the midwestern United States as it offered greater shooting ranges and a rapid reloading rate muzzleloading rifles couldn’t offer.

The Pedersoli® 1859 Sharps Carbine Calvary Rifle is a meticulously crafted historical reproduction of the original 1859 Sharps Calvary Carbine. The Rifle features a case-hardened frame and blued barrel finish and is made to fire .54 caliber paper cartridges. The Sharps Calvary rifle also features a patch box built into the stock as well as a single smooth action trigger and a beautiful American walnut stock. Pedersoli® has manufactured the rifle to comply with N-SSA (North-South Skirmish Association) requirements and is approved for use in N-SSA sanctioned reenacting events and competitions.

The rifle features a 22-inch barrel with a rifling twist ratio of 1:48, perfectly designed for the mini ball and other mid-1800’s styled conical projectiles. The rifle’s overall length measures a very manageable 39-inches and the gun weighs just 9.7 lbs.
